Enhancing the art of jewelry making, today's new technology allows jeweler Jon Miller to design and build custom pieces that were never possible before.

Jon Miller leads the trade with computer-aided design programs that enable him to create and exhibit a wide variety of custom pieces. Working closely with his customers to design jewelry that expressly meets their needs, he shows them how gems will appear in different settings on a computer screen.

"Being able to work through the design along with my customers is great," he says. "I can make whatever changes I think need to be made with just the click of a mouse button." With the customer's fresh ideas and Jon's experience, skills and artistry, he's able to create exciting new designs that he sculpts with wax and then casts into gold jewelry.

Jon Miller's attraction to creating jewelry began while he was in high school in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He always enjoyed working in the shop, and always took classes in silversmithing. Originally planning to become a teacher, Jon attended Millersville State College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as an Industrial Arts major with a minor in Fine Arts. The Fine Arts program included jewelry design courses, and it was in those classes that Jon realized his talent and interest in designing fine jewelry. He decided to leave Millersville and enrolled in Bowmans Jewelry Technical School, also located in Lancaster. Bowmans offered extensive training in all aspects of designing and making jewelry.

In 1979 Jon began to work for T.A. Anderson's Jewelry store in Cocoa Village, FL. In 1991, he acquired that store. For eight years, Jon kept T.A. Anderson's name above the door. Then in 2000, the name changed - to "Jon's Fine Jewelry"..

Though time management is a challenge for anyone in business, Jon makes the time to volunteer his services in support of a few chosen organizations.

Jon strongly believes in continuing education for himself and his employees. They regularly attend jewelry conventions and seminars. Also, keeping himself current, Jon takes gemological courses through the Gemological Institute of America.

Jon Miller is a member of the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO), Jewelers of America, Retail Jewelers Organization, the Cocoa Beach Power Squadron, and the Cocoa Rotary Club.
